Immigrant Women Inviting Immigrant Women Round Table Discussion

In 2012, over thirty women came together to participate the first Community Needs Assessment hosted by IMWAH. At this event, women highlighted various challenges and needs that were encountered throughout their settlement and integration process in Nova Scotia: personal, professional, parenting, social, physical and mental wellbeing. This event allowed IMWAH to gather the needs of immigrant migrant women and envision its advocacy framework to improve social conditions that affect our wellbeing. It became clear when hearing from women at the event that Nova Scotia was lacking a immigrant serving organization dedicated to immigrant women, girls and their families and women and girls without permanent resident status. This event led to the formation and incorporation of IMWAH in 2013.
